Incoloy is stainless with a combination of chemicals especially Iron, chromium, and nickel that are present in high proportions. Incoloy and Inconel have a similar chemical composition but the proportion of nickel content is less than 50% in Incoloy whereas it is more than 50% in Inconel stainless steel. Incoloy is a multi-purpose super austenitic stainless steel. It is used in industries for its features like resistivity from oxidation, high heat, sulfuric and other harsh acids, stress corrosion in different media, high chloride conditions, etc. Alloy 825 fasteners are hot formed in the temperature range of 1600 degrees Fahrenheit to 2150 degrees Fahrenheit. Incoloy 825 fasteners are used in applications that require resistance to oxidation and reduction agents, resistance to stress cracking and crevice corrosion, and resistance to pitting and interangular corrosion. Its resistance to harsh acids especially sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid is a very cost-efficient feature. Incoloy 825 fasteners are used in pressure vessels in temperatures up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. They maintain their creep strength and high mechanical properties in prolonged periods of exposure to heat. Incoloy 825 fasteners are used in the industries of chemical processing plants, pollution control equipment, nuclear fuel reprocessing, pickling equipment, oil and gas well piping, handling of radioactive waste materials, acid production, and oil and gas recovery.

Features & Benefits of Incoloy 825 Fasteners

Incoloy 825 fasteners are used in hostile environments where most common materials will simply fail. Here’s why they are a practical choice:

  • Corrosion resistance in acids: The alloy handles both oxidizing and reducing acids well. Sulfuric and phosphoric acid environments are where this material performs consistently.
  • Resistance to stress corrosion cracking: This is a real problem in high-chloride environments. Incoloy 825 holds up better than most austenitic stainless grades in such conditions.
  • High nickel and molybdenum content: These two elements together contribute significantly to pitting and crevice corrosion resistance.
  • Thermal stability: The material stays stable at elevated temperatures without losing its corrosion-resistant properties. This matters in process piping and heat exchanger applications.
  • Titanium stabilization: Titanium is added to prevent sensitization during welding, which reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion in fabricated assemblies.

Why Choose Incoloy 825 Fasteners?

If you're working in chemical processing, oil and gas, or any environment where aggressive media is involved, you need fasteners that won't corrode or fail under load. Incoloy 825 covers that requirement. The nickel-iron-chromium base with molybdenum and copper additions gives it the kind of broad corrosion resistance that single-element alloys can't match.

It handles both acidic and alkaline conditions. It works in seawater. It doesn't sensitize easily after welding, which is a practical advantage during fabrication. For flanged joints, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers where standard SS fasteners have failed before, Incoloy 825 is a reliable upgrade.

At Goodluck Metal, we supply Incoloy 825 fasteners sourced from mills across Japan, Korea, Italy, and other established origins. Our material is used by fabricators supplying EIL-approved projects and has been verified by international inspection agencies including Bureau Veritas, Lloyd's Register Asia, and DNV. So the supply chain is traceable, and the material meets the specifications.

Properties of Incoloy 825 Fasteners

Incoloy 825 has a specific chemical and mechanical profile that makes it suitable for critical fastening applications. Nickel content sits between 38 and 46%, and this is the base element that gives the alloy its corrosion resistance in both acidic and caustic media. Chromium ranges from 19.5 to 23.5% and handles oxidizing conditions. The 2.5 to 3.5% molybdenum helps resist pitting and crevice corrosion, especially in chloride-bearing environments. Copper at 1.5 to 3% improves performance in sulfuric and phosphoric acid service. On the mechanical side the tensile strength is generally 690 MPa minimum, which is suitable for most industrial bolting requirements. Density is approximately 8.14 g/cm³, slightly heavier than standard stainless grades. The material holds up from cryogenic temperatures to around 540°C under continuous service conditions.

Advantages of Incoloy 825 Fasteners

The main advantage is versatility. You have one fastener material that works in acid service, seawater exposure and high temperature service without having to change to different alloys for each environment. That simplifies procurement and reduces compatibility issues during assembly.

Another practical advantage is weldability. Many high-performance alloys cause complications during fabrication. Incoloy 825, because of titanium stabilization, doesn't sensitize the heat-affected zone the way unstabilized grades do. This keeps the fastener performance intact even in welded assemblies.

There's also the matter of availability in standard forms. Incoloy 825 is available in all common fastener types like bolts, nuts, washers, studs, and threaded rods, so you're not working around supply limitations.
